Review of All Good Things (2010) by Mathieu F — 06 Aug 2011
Ryan Gosling is, as always, perfect in this interpretation of a reluctant heir to a New York City real estate mogul who falls in love with the Woman He Shouldn't Have Married. Soon, the social and love movie becomes a thriller and a disturbing one marred with domestic abuse, tyranny and failed dreams. The third part is easily the most bizarre when Gosling's character moves south to start a new life... as a woman and where his trail of murders continues.
Maybe because the film's based on true events and, as such, never really settles into a genre, it doesn't really find its own rhythm. So, I was left out wondering what the director wanted to do with this compelling story.
