Review of All Good Things (2010) by Angel F — 28 Aug 2011
The film is like a lost child. It doesn't have a purpose, it doesn't carry a mind, and it doesn't offer anything other than a display of remarkable performances of the cast. Gosling is becoming more of an actor and less of a prince charming, while Dunst, still in her late-bloom persona, succeeds in developing a distinguishable performance.
The direction leads on a good trail, but the audience never gets to know where it goes to, or what the destination is. Is it a biography? is it an interpretation? The filmmakers unintentionally left the good ideas hanging in the air without ever thoroughly develop it, submitting instead the wrong ideas into the film.
We get an impression, but it's still lacking polish.
