Law & Order did an episode based, much more loosely, on the facts of the Durst case, and it was a much more compelling hour of television than Jarecki's bloodless, confused, nearly two hour film.

The main problem is that David Marks (names changed to protect the artists) is a first class whack job and the movie robs his character of that. This is a guy who thought it expedient to escape questioning into the disappearance of his wife by moving to Texas (would an innocent person move to TEXAS?!) and pretend to be a mute woman.

All Good Things also suggests that he may be schizophrenic. Maybe he is, but nothing that he does in this film follows from that diagnosis. In the right hands this is a story with the complexity and humanity of a Shakespearean tragedy.

All Good Things has all the nuance of a made-for-Lifetime teleplay.
