Review of All Eyez on Me (2017) by Travis H — 16 Jun 2017
This was my favorite movie of the year so far. It was awesome seeing a black man portrayed as more than just a thug, let alone a rapper portrayed as more than one. The movie wes well acted and often I found myself forgetting that I was watching an actor play the role of Tupac and not a documentary.
The soundtrack was fantastic and unlike Straight Out of Compton actually featured Tupac performing his songs rather than someone covering them. The covered tracks were the one negative I had about Straight Out of Compton, yet hear it wasn't even an issue.
I did find myself having a hard time believing the actor they had playing Suge Knight in some parts but the actor playing Snoop Dogg made up for that. It was also nice seeing some Walking Dead Alumni in the cast.
I thought it was a good movie for Tupac fans but left a lot out that some people had been hoping to see, specifically more about his feud with Notorious Big. With that said, the movie is made in such a way it can be enjoyed by those hardcore fans or by those who know nothing about Tupac beyond the fact that he was in Juice and performed California Love.
I highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves hip hop, anyone who supports the equality movement, or anyone who is just the slightest interested in the live of Tupac.
