Easily the next best thing Bltuh ever did to NIMH. WATCH NOW - the only problem is they tried to make it juvenile and its too mature naturally to be good with that.

THE whole point of the movie is the main character dies more than once. Stop trying to make this a kiddie film! Show charlie actuly get hit with car! take out king gator! take out whuts mine is urs! hell, take out ALL the songs!

This is the perfect film for home viewing. watch now.

Pro - good storyline, has its share of pathos, cant keep a good dog down, let me be surprised, and soon you'll come home are good songs, and frankly the movie leaves you blown away and choked up at the end. anne marie can be annoying, but she comes across as lonely and frightened, but the shirley temple cute sh*t comes across too strong in some spots.

Cons - shirley temple influences come too strong in some places, and some moments are just horrible and worth skipping, like what's mine is yours, welcome to doing whatever you wish, and lets make music together.

Also, a lot of people in this film are frankly retarded (case in point - the horse races ticket taker who doesn't notice that he's talking to a wobbly guy in a trenchcoat with a little girl's face, moustache, and tail.

It improves a lot near the end.

Excellent film.

On the whole - good rewatch value, watch the whole movie at once, and be ready to skip some scenes.
