Review of All About Steve (2009) by Matt R — 09 Sep 2010
Well, when I saw the trailer for this film I thought it was going to be pretty dang good. With the cast they got and how they're all getting really popular all at the same time (Bullock, Cooper, Church, and Jeong) you would think they could like combine their powers to make one awesome movie.
They just combined to make a huge, steamy mess. Bullock plays a woman who designs and creates crossword puzzles for the local paper. She is incredibly intelligent which makes her very socially awkward.
Her character is extremely annoying and she is so hard to watch, it makes the whole movie just that more unbelievable or relatable. It's really funny that Bullock is involved in one of the worse movies of the year ('All About Steve') and one of the best ('The Blind Side').
She won the Oscar for 'The Blind Side' and she also won a Razzie for 'All About Steve'. A Razzie, for those who don't know is an annual awards show the celebrates the worse movies of the year.
Bullock became the first person to ever win an Oscar and a Razzie in the same year. Thomas Haden Church was the best part of the film (he reminded me alot of his character from 'Smart People').
Bits and pieces from some of the other comedians were OK here and there, but Bolluck's character just sucked the life from this film and no amount of slap stick could revive it.
