Review of All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001) by Anto N — 25 Dec 2005
When I first watched Lily Chou Chou I was confused. Not because I couldn't follow the story, but because I couldn't understand the sorrow and alienation that Yuichi and Hoshino went through. So naturally like any film watching the film a second time cleared out any questions.
This is a sad film at times near the start and end. The real highlight for me though is the friendship which Yuichi and Hoshino onced shared before Honshino became the bully he now is. Going through Okinawa and the lead up before, showed a beautiful story which showed that the slighest of problems can ruin a good thing.
Like a bad apple in a barrel full of apples, it ruins the rest. I only wish I could visit the Ether as they did.
