Review of All About Lily Chou-Chou (2001) by Alex T — 05 Jun 2007
Only a music video director could create a film with such vivid and beautiful use of colour, and only Shunji Iwaii could direct a film in which these colours are used to their full advantage. The main attraction of this film, however, is the wonderful character study of highschool and adolescent tension in the overly angst-ridden and deadly traditional context of the Japanese youth.
A coming of age film that means what it says with every fibre of its being.
