Review of All About Eve (1950) by Lyle B — 03 Jan 2012
"You all know all about Eve", says narrator Addison Dewitt, "What can there be to know that you don't know?' In fact, there is much that we have yet to discover in this 1950's film about an aging star and her up and coming young fan, searching for a chance to take center stage.
When Eve Harrington, a seemingly innocent young woman, meets her stage idol, Margo Channing, they become the best of friends. But as Eve learns more about Margo and her friends and relationship, she slowly begins stealing the spotlight, both onstage and off.
This tale of betrayal on Broadway delighted audiences and critics alike with great performances by Anne Baxter, George Sanders and the always amazing Bette Davis. A true masterpiece, that reveals the truth behind actors and the parts they play, both for audiences and the real world.
