Review of All About Eve (1950) by William W — 07 Oct 2014
A remarkable cautionary tale of the fickleness of fame and fortune, and how for every star who makes it up the ladder, there's countless others ready to climb over top of them and kick them downwards.
Deserves its 6 Oscars and is heartily recommended. George Sanders, Bette Davis, Anne Baxter and Marilyn Monroe (albeit in a limited role) are pitch-perfect, and it's one of Edith Head's string of Oscar-winners for the best costume designer ever.
If you ever make it big, this will never make you forget to look over your shoulder too.
