Review of All About Eve (1950) by Gavin P — 10 Feb 2015
An in-depth exploration of actresses and their vanity. Simple plot - young upstart (Baxter) becomes a protege of a successful, but aging, actress (Davis) - both very good - and sets out to undermine her at every chance.
Sanders as the critic is great and reminds me of an old-timey Colin Firth. Nice conclusion, but it probably didn't need to be over two hours long. Definitely a 'classic' film, in that there's lots of exposition/discussion and not much else.
Good, but not really 'Top 100' quality.
