Review of Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq (2007) by Ross B — 19 Jul 2012
James Gandolfini interviews several injured soldiers in this heartbreaking documentary where soldiers talk about the day that they narrowly escaped death. The film is gripping and will keep your attention, however it does like to shock and awe.
Whether intentional or not, the editing is sometimes used to surprise instead of help to understand these soldiers situations. Some stories are more effective then others, but they all show the trauma caused by the wars.
Even though it may be a little deceptive in its ways, it is a touching and emotional look at what these men and women have given to America.
