I personally don't see what people hate about this film. Is it a masterpiece? No. Is it better than the Alien and Predator films? Sorta....if you count Alien Resurrection. Is it better than the first AvP film? HELL YES.
It's a great action romp. Mindless fun. I think critics keep basing their reviews on each film being the next great Citizen Cane.
