Review of Aliens (1986) by Dr. F P — 05 Aug 2013
Wow, this is a damn good movie. My whole appreciation for Aliens is mostly due to being SO involved with Sigourney Weaver's Ellen Ripley. I just got really into her whole character and her emotions and how freakin' kick ass she is.
I also have to thank WHOEVER! that there's no gratuitous shots of her butt or bust, that really made this a lot better to watch. I admit that when all of the marines joined up I sighed in disappointment, for the most part they were all jerks and there was no way in hell I was going to relate to any of them and give a crap when they eventually got ghosted.
I was slightly wrong, because towards the end they seemed alright, i'd much rather just let them do their thing though rather than have some sort of half-assed character development when there's little TO develop.
I watched a longer edit of this and I don't know if it's better than the normal version, I can see why fans of the original Alien may not like this considering it's more like an action movie but those creatures are freakin' creepy! I love the architecture and vehicle and weapon designs too and the end is so ass kicking-ly great.
I just want to shout HELL YEAH! when that queen finally gets busted.
