Review of Aliens (1986) by Elliott P — 19 Mar 2014
Though I believe without Alien and Alien 3 this film would be nowhere near as good or as popular, this has to be the best Alien film to date. There is one qualm though, in the original, H.I. Giger designed the alien to have a more feminine shape; elegant, smooth skull and quite a small body.
In Aliens however the aliens were more masculine and fierce looking. Dont get me wrong I approve of vicious looking aliens but think its a bit of an insult to the origianal film and designer to change it.
Never the less this film is a tribute to its era and like we proved with Alien Resurrection; we will struggle to do it justice for the next generation. Naturally as time passes films try to shock in more disturbing and grusome ways, what I like about the Alien films is that they began long before that trend and today still shocks and disgusts.
..as intended. The characters are typical but well thought out and it work and the alien is a pure masterpiece. Lets hope they don't tint the franchise with any dissapointing new additions to the Alien saga or Alien Versus Predator.
Remember where it began; 1979.
