Review of Aliens (1986) by Ben T — 04 Oct 2014
When I went into Aliens I was very skeptical. Could this movie really live up to the sheer masterpiece of terror and suspense that was the original Alien... Well yeah it does, in fact it surpasses it. In a genius move the movie changes it's tone from outright horror to action.
That's not to say it isn't scary, infact from the moment they get to the planet it's nothing but one tense scene after another. In this movie the characters are changed from astronauts to marines.
Due to this change we get some of the best action sequences ever. We also get some of the most memorable characters ever put on film, as well as Ripley we get Newt, Hicks, Bishop, Burke, Hudson and Vasquez.
The finale of the film is brilliant, wether it's the remaining marines last stand or Ripley destroying all the eggs to Ripley's classic fight with the queen Xenomorph. Aliens is a film that surpasses the original film in almost every way, which was no easy thing to do.
Go and see it now! A+.
