Review of Aliens (1986) by Anthony A — 28 Jan 2015
Aliens will always be known as one of the best sequels to ever be made. From the brilliant mind of James Cameron, and the amazing return as Ripley, Sigourney Weaver, this film succeeds in every from its prequel Alien.
As I see it. Horror, No it doesn't have the same scary feel as the first film, but it does have it in it's own way. The motion sensors are distinctive and heart stopping. The not knowing where exactly the Aliens are coming from causing the scary and suspense the film needs.
Comedy, duh, all the marines have great sense of humors and who can forget Hudson. Action, well yeah, the introduction of the Pulse Rifle, sentry guns, smart gun. Tons of gun fire and plenty of explosions.
Romance/Love story, a connection between Ripley and Hicks grows to the point he risks his own life for her and her to him. Lastly, Ripley had a daughter, Amanda Ripley, who died from old age. You meet Newt who becomes a huge motivational character in the film.
Ripley feels as though she needs to do what ever it takes to protect her, because she reminds her of her daughter. Aliens takes all these things and puts them in together and does it perfectly.
