Review of Aliens (1986) by Armando P — 15 Feb 2015
First of all, the remastered version is very impressive. The deep blacks, and the almost "bluish" color to it. It was all good. It was 1986, I was born 87, yet I thought, this is one of the best looking Sci-fi films of all time.
There is nothing in this new generation of sci-fi films can compare. It is incomparable. It was most likely a masterpiece. This is one of those films, that feels very real, very atmospheric at times. You don't need a 3D glass to have that kind of experience, but by just watching it, it is beyond 3D.
The robotics, the special effects, everything here are superbly well made. In short, this still tops the list, for the most well made, good looking visually sci-fi films ever. Sigourney Weaver as Ripley is one the most charismatic and strong female characters in a Sci-fi action film.
I love her character here. Instead of studying the creature. They are forced to invade the planet where her previous crew discovered the alien has since been settled by colonists. I thought this is more action packed than before.
Especially the last scenes, that was epic, Ripley is being brave enough to fight one on one with the queen alien creature. And the futuristic power loader, machine guns, boy this is more of a "sci-fi bad ass" as it can get.
James Cameron defines innovation, as simply one of the best big budgeted films of all time. Definitely a masterpiece. 5/5.
