Review of Alien³ (1992) by Billy G — 24 May 2017
This is the best horror film and sci-fi film ever made. The pacing is perfect as it builds up the dread for the audience. Once the deaths begin, there is no relief. Scott is masterful at building the suspense and allowing the audience to get to know the crew and all their personalities.
We actually come to care about these people and want to see them escape. Every one of the seven crew members have very distinct personalities and the actors add subtle touches to make all of the character interactions even more interesting and entertaining.
The Alien itself is one of the creepiest movie monsters in cinema history too. The dark corridors of the ship help to camouflage the Alien to make it more terrifying and unpredictable. Despite what some claim, this movie is so much more than a slasher movie in space.
It deals with sexual anxiety, feminism, the plight of the working class, and an anxiety towards space exploration. After watching 'Alien', do we really want to know what kind of life forms might be out there?
