Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Amanda C — 17 Dec 2010
Jeunet is definatly out of his comfort zone with this film. Not that he does a bad job directing, but it's pretty standart over all, except for his continual use of shots for the knee down, which with better horror style lighting could be quite effective. The biggest problem with this film is that Jeunet is trying to make a Jeunet film out of something that isn't his, he doesn't do horror, he does wimsy and as such the film falls short in places.
There are some moments that make absoluty no sence and some cheap tricks within the plot and the overall result is increadibly predictable. At least Joss Wedon and Jeunet have a sence of humor, which is essencial when watching something this rediculous. It makes it enjoyable if not fantastic.
