Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Will H — 29 Jan 2011
I bailed with about 30 minutes to go, couldn't get engaged. I know that Alien 3 usually gets a worse rap than this one, but I actually prefer Fincher's film. Jean-Pierre Jeunet was the absolute wrong choice for this movie, not fitting the tone the Alien films are supposed to have at all.
Sigourney Weaver gives it her all, but she and her badly written supporting cast (particularly Winona Ryder's android character) can't save this movie. Despite some decent ideas, this was beyond saving.
Cold, sterile and lifeless, Alien Resurrection is, bar none, the worst of the four Alien films.
