Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Jen H — 02 Aug 2011
This movie was unnecessary. I would have been happy with a slightly different Alien 3. But, since Fox wanted butts in seats and nefarious space-conspirators tried to capture the aliens again, it exists. I'll note, then, that its tone is all over the map, the timing is awful, the one non-Ripley character who isn't evil is annoying (and Ripley herself is pretty much reduced to a catchphrase-spouting action caricature) and concepts that -could- be interesting are executed so poorly that they... aren't.
The only good parts:
- Two of Ron Perlman's lines.
- Sigourney Weaver's Epic Basketball Maneuver.
- the Lab O'Horrors.
- the fact that the Auriga totally started Starship Troopers (watch where it hits, ololol).
