Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Luke E — 07 Apr 2012
Joss Wheadon's script is stylish and dark with some interesting ideas. Jean-Pierre Jeunet may have been a good candidate for the director's role, the acting's not too bad. But unlike Alien 3 its takes itself way too far into a mine field of explosive set-ups which turn into muck ups of the franchise.
This feels way too gutsy from what should be sci-fi claustrophobic suspence into gruesome, unsettling and uncompromising mess which hasn't give the franchise a leg up. So it very dissapointing to see all that lost under shrapnel and blood exploitation.
