Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Peter N — 01 Aug 2012
With what appears to be the production value of a SyFy original movie, Alien Resurrection is a convoluted mess. I'll be honest, I really didn't pay that much attention throughout the film. Ripley's "clone" is a poor replacement of the strong, determined character of the preceding films.
The alien queen, which had been established in the second film as the ultimate extraterrestrial badass, is reduced to having its face ripped off by a baby human/alien hybrid thing. Really? And the original alien design, meant to be visually striking and in a weird way beautiful, is bastardized in order to create gross-out new creatures and revolting visuals.
Stay away.
