As much as I want to hate this movie for the numerous holes in the story, honestly... I actually kind of like it.

Yeah, a lot of the writing makes absolutely no sense. For example: how is it that in the future, we don't have the technology to separate DNA strands from one another (hence the new Ripley being a hybrid)? Why is it that nobody acid-proofed the alien cells in case of an alien injury (hence how they escaped)? And above all, how is it that the military is so unprepared to deal with what they were hired to watch in the first place? The narrative is apathetic, the screenplay is pretty generic with a lot of wandering through halls and the holes in the plot are numerous.

However, we tune into these sequels because we love the aliens. And the actual creatures were handled very nicely (except for making them brown, in my honest opinion). The creature effects were fantastic, the characters were at least fun- especially Ron Perlman- and the attempt to breathe new life into the series after the rehash that was Alien 3 was at least commendable, if not a little misguided.

All in all, it was okay. It wasn't the best, but I can't say I hated it. It was at least fun.
