Review of Alien Resurrection (1997) by Dana P — 30 Jan 2015
I believe that this beautifully shot film gets trashed by folks because they don't watch it correctly. It feels to me more like a sly tongue-in-cheek send-up of the Alien franchise and Hollywood action films in general.
If Cameron's gun party was the high point for you (I think it was the worst, and maybe I just couldn't get past shooting hundreds of aliens with corrosive blood on a ship out in the vacuum of space, but hey.
..) then you may not appreciate where the series went from there. I loved the fact that David Fincher's alien came on the heels of the gun-heavy Alien with no guns whatsoever, and I love Jeunet poking us all in the ribs.
