Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Trey W — 05 Aug 2017
About 15 minutes into this movie this Aliens quote popped into my mind: "Did IQs just drop sharply while I was away?" The answer is yes, yes they did. Apparently spaceships of the future are now crewed exclusively by morons.
Now Ridley Scotts Alien movies have never been big on hard science fiction, and if you looked too closely you'd start seeing the flaws. Simple things, like how do they have gravity on their ships.
But apart from that they'd been fairly logical, but the past couple, Prometheus and Alien Covenant have just been parades of illogic. The kind of illogic that makes you yell at your TV, or want to put your foot through it.
Visiting an unexplored planet? Don't bother with a space suit, I'm sure it'll be fine. Encounter a strange organism on that unexplored planet? Make sure to get as close to it as possible to it, touch it even, I'm sure it'll be fine.
I love Ridley Scott but I've had it with these movies. Alien Covenant was terrible, Prometheus was terrible, and Ridley Scott should feel terrible for making them. Also critics and the public should feel terrible for giving Ridley a pass on these terribly written excuses for sci-fi.
I have no idea how this has a %70 rating, and Prometheus has an even higher %73! It's ridiculous. Both Alien, and Aliens were so infinitely superior this these 2 cinematic turds that they shouldn't even be show in the same theaters.
