Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Ivy K — 10 Aug 2017
So facial blindness sucks, and I had literally no clue that Michael Fassbender was playing both synthetics or that they looked at all like each other. Little things I learn from Wikipedia when I read the plot summary after watching the movie.
Which I did largely because it's been a LONG time since I saw any of the other Alien movies and might've been drunk when I watched Prometheus so I wanted to make sure I followed everything I was supposed to.
I did, I think. I really enjoyed this one, although it did feel more violent than previous installments, though it really has been so long since I've watched them I could be wrong. But that's the only thing that loses a star is that it just felt gratuitous, and maybe I'm just getting too old to appreciate gratuitous violence.
I feel tremendously disloyal to Lindelof for appreciating this one more than Prometheus, but fewer plot holes and no ridiculous moment of "take two steps to either side and you will not be crushed by that wheel you're trying to outrun" made for a better movie.
In addition to just enjoying the overall plot theme and the acting.
