Giving it another viewing, it actually works even better. Once you know what you're getting into (the lovechild, linking the themes of Prometheus and Alien), you get a rather effective movie. David is the real feature here, and his issues make for some compelling cinema.

Plus you get the dread, isolation and gore you've come to expect from an Alien film. Sure it takes a couple liberties with the mythos, but it is very far from the disappointment the reviews would have you believe.
