Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Tor M — 05 Oct 2017
Never got all the Prometheus' hate as I remember to enjoy it. Not the most action filled film, but it's visuals and the story was pretty cool to me. This is the newest chapter and I think it's taking place some time after the "Prometheus".
The story get's interesting after the first 40 - not like it's much build up in the first bit to "catch up" with the previous story. That comes later on anyhow, so it's cool - but that made the first 40 a bit slack. I like the visuals here as well, but there are more flaws than in the last effort, five years ago.
OK acting, but I never care much for the characters. Michael Fassbender's character is the most interesting one for sure. The scary creatures looks fresher and scarier than ever.
I should probably have checked out the two short prologue films before putting watching this one, but I saw it while writing up this review some days later. "Last Supper" is nothing much really, maybe a small effort to make some character knowledge, but mostly it's just a big teaser for the film, pretty irrelevant. "The Crossing" added something at least, still not a must to see.
In total - a visually stunning film, while the story, the twists and the excecution are pretty weak.
5.5 out of 10 flutes.
