Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Scienceadvisor — 20 May 2017
Yet another trope filled mess that tries to cash in on past glories. Scott pulled a Lucas, where he does not even attempt to develop any kind of character for the people about to be killed off, which leaves the audience asking "who cares".
With pre-knowledge of past glories (Alien movies), you cannot help but be severely disappointed. Those claiming this is art must have missed all the previous movies. Even Alien 4 is better in many respects, as it was at least trying to create something new, and bothered to make us at least like a few of the characters.
I hope the Bokenkamp sequel to Alien 2 is put back into production, and Ridley is finally barred from interfering with the series, as Disney did had to do with Lucas.
