Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Nicholas K — 28 Dec 2017
Highly entertaining and frightening as expected. I thoroughly enjoyed this installment in the franchise. I was disappointed, however, in not seeing Noomi Rapace continuing positively in the story, this was a disastrous mistake by Mr.
Scott. She was the beloved character from Prometheus. Obviously Fassbender is Mr. Scott's antagonist, not the alien creatures, in this reboot of the Alien franchise (one more film or two to go?). The new type of alien in part of this film was unique and surprisingly refreshing.
More of a horror film than Prometheus but just as well produced. A second disappointment was how the script treated the new Christian commander, and how quickly a character gestated the traditional alien, that appeared much too fast.
The new aliens spawn from a new method of gestation and was therefore acceptably rapid. The new civilization was a surprise to the franchise, we will see where this goes in the highly anticipated sequel(s) to come !
