Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Xabache F — 20 Oct 2017
Ridley Scott is one of the great directors of our time but my god, this is a terrible movie. I loved the original Alien because it really took care to get the science right. I know that's long gone in these endless sequels but this is insulting.
Sound in space? Spaceships that fly like planes in space? An advanced alien species living in a small village instead of occupying their entire planet, destroyed by an android built by a human being, a species that they created in the prequel? And it's pretty bigoted too.
The thinking, creative android has the British accent; the dumbed-down, simple android has the American accent. We have our problems in this vast, diverse country but spaceflight was pioneered by the United States and Russia.
We continue to push the frontiers of space travel in theory if not reality. This movie is offensive.
