Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Mattyice — 07 Jun 2017
While more entertaining than Prometheus, Alien Covenant hits far too many of the same beats in an Alien franchise long past its prime. The film is shot very well by Ridley Scott, the characters are solid, the twist is good, and the production design is great.
Despite these successes, the plot takes too long to get started and the themes and dialogue are very pretentious. The film does not answer many of the questions created by Prometheus and the story is a complete retread of the prior Alien movies.
Overall, the film is a massive disappointment, making me wish this old franchise will get killed once and for all.
