Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Jack J — 26 May 2017
Bore, Gore, and more bore. Covenant is a long-winded rehash of previous similar titles, Prometheus included. A series of scenes in which characters with more brawn than brains throw themselves into the meat-grinder.
The gore is spectacular and in terms of big-screen action Covenant does well, though it should be noted most of the violence is a direct result of frustratingly moronic decisions as well as a general disregard for simple, yet potentially life-saving protocols.
So if you're after a brutal murder-fest then look no further, but if you're at all interested in an intricate, lore-filled, complex and tense Alien film then re-watch the original instead.
