Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Tristan P — 19 May 2017
It was pretty good. Had elements from Prometheus that I liked and elements of the original film that I liked. The tone shift that people are talking about (some like some hate), wasn't that bad. Scott directs this film perfectly by giving you a slow burn until the unfortunate climax. Scott does a great job at switching between those two tones but giving you two scenes that audiences know what the outcome are going to be. I will not tell because it is a spoiler.
Also, damn. Scott knows how to compose a shot and it's is fantastic. Everything is beautiful and there's never any awkward angels. Overall I would recommend you go see it if you're a fan of the franchise. However, for those coming in could be a little confused what's going on. Also, there are some weird plot holes inbetween Prometheus and this film that were weird.
8.2.
