Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Justin D — 21 May 2017
Ridley Scott's best movie in years, Alien: Covenant is at times actually scary, strangely thought provoking and also beautifully photographed. Using a script written by John Logan (Penny Dreadful, the Aviator) this movie doesn't shy away from asking some big questions and letting the audience make up its own mind as to what kind of motivations these characters have and what they want to do with their own futures.
Some of the ideas put forth are pretty scary in scope which makes the film more than just a jump scare kind of movie to me. Some people might not like the fact that there aren't more aliens in the movie a la some kind of world war alien movie but I was fine with the scale of the film.
I'm hoping the conclusion of this prequel trilogy brings a massive battle but we'll all have to find out. If you're on the fence about the movie, wait till it comes out on DVD.
