Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Lee C — 16 Sep 2017
Went in with high expectations, not as high that I was expecting it to be better than the original or Aliens, but to be far superior to Prometheus and it is, in every way possible. Firstly, the cinematography is amazing, the isolated atmosphere sets a chilling and creepy tone throughout the movie.
The effects are magnificent, the xenomorph hasn't looked this good in decades. The whole cast doesn't contribute as well as it did in the first 3 installments, but there's still solid performances in there from Michael Fassbender as Walter and David, Danny McBride as Tennessee & Katherine Waterson as Daniels.
The action was badass too, fight scenes with Walter & David & The Xenomorph chase were edge of your seat thrilling. Overall, Fassbender stole the show with his portrayals and I'm definitely on board seeing more of his character in future installments.
Die hard fans I would recommend, to casuals I would also recommend, just watching the Xenomorph ripping humans to shreds gave me motivation to go back to re-watch the whole series over. This is definitely a must see for all.
