Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Cheshire217 — 18 May 2017
I have always been a huge fan of the Alien series and had recently re-watched all the movies before going to see this movie last night. The good is I found this movie to be enjoyable while at times I felt it had some unnecessarily long scenes that lingered.
I wish they didn't spend 40 minutes before descending down to the planet. Characters were likable albeit your typical bad decision making fodder. Effects were great with the exception of some CGI shots.
To me it had just about the right amount of drama/plot to action ratio. I dont really understand the hate from many reviewers. There are gaps in plot and timeline issues when put side by side with other alien movies but lets be honest its an Aliens movie and they have muddled up the plot up over the years.
This movie does a decent enough job of cleaning up the mess but still leaves many questions in the end. I had fun watching it and as a fan look forward to more. Its I'd say the third best Alien film.
