Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Ozy A — 18 Jun 2017
I was looking forward to the explanations & continuance of the Prometheus story. More unique adventure horror in the alien genre .... and although the film captures the effects & the mood.... the characters are portrayed as the most incompetent boobheads around.
There is little appeal to the cast. The Robots clearly steal the show. The films most interesting quality is not rehashing the idea again & again & again the strong independent female hero...it's more about the AI of the robots?? The film fails in a smooth transition from Prometheus.
The film seems so heavily edited and incomplete that watching it is unsatisfying & disappointing. Some footage directly connecting to Prometheus is actually released as a 'made for web episodes' uhhhh why? WHY?! It wasn't even advertised for fans to watch it! The entire film feels like a messy rehash of another old idea.
.. with a nailed setting & excellent special effects & soundtrack.
