Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Justin W — 26 Jul 2017
Alien: Covenant is a mixed-bag of decent action/horror elements and unoriginal story-telling. While the film adds absolutely nothing new to the franchise at all, it manages to provide a decent, albeit predictable story line that is only boring for the first 30 minutes of the film.
Covenant shines most during the fighting and action scenes, that manage to combine the almost overindulgent amount of gore we've come to expect from the franchise with well-choreographed, well-animated duels with the horrifying aliens.
Overall, this movie is a must-watch for any die hard fans of the franchise, but is very hard to recommend to newcomers due to its poor pacing in the first fourth of the film, and the fact that it tries to develop upon the story-line of "Prometheus", another Ridley Scott film related to the Alien franchise.
