It's hard to watch Alien: Covenant without imagining an apology tour for Ridley Scott's previous film in the series, Prometheus. Scored on the scale of whether it's as bad as Prometheus, Alien: Covenant succeeds brilliantly.
As a standalone film? It squeaks by with a passing grade. Ridley Scott can and has done better.
