Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Another V — 24 Aug 2018

This prequel to the Alien movies and sequel to Prometheus begins to answer a LOT of questions. We finally have the answers to where these aliens came from and why. The unanswered mysteries from Alien and Prometheus have found some answers, although some answers will not be findable since the prehuman race we came from (in this storyline) has been exterminated. I'd have much rather seen a coming together of humanity than genocide, but it was not to be. This is not Star Trek.

I'm a fan of sci Fi and generally not of horror. I loved the sci Fi in this and was horrified by the horror. I thought the horror aspects were well done, excellent timing, pacing, and suspense. But damn, must you kill off everyone I like!? Personally, I wish director Ridley Scott would put his talents toward less horrific sci Fi. I'm sure I'd love it.

The ending of this made Prometheus's ending seem like a happy fairytale ending.
