Review of Alien: Covenant (2017) by Mark D — 13 Nov 2017
So is this the worst Alien movie ever? That's hard to say. But it's not good at all.
Better than Prometheus at least? I'd say no, and that movie was just ok.
These "prequel" movies are basically ruining the whole Alien legacy. We are being given information that no one needed or even asked for.
Maybe if this information was doled out in a decent story it might work. But it's not. It makes no damn sense, and is filled with idiot characters doing stupid things.
For starters, you'd think they'd have picked the best of the best to helm a space ship full of cryo people to find a new home. You'd think the crew would totally kick ass. We get the opposite, minus one or two. Whats with the medic freaking out at the first site of blood?
The whole David angle just makes me cringe so hard. It's such a ridiculous stretch.
The aliens themselves look cool, of course, but they just do what they always do.
There are zero surprises here. We see everything coming right from the beginning. Even the final act.
This movie is crap. Don't bother.
