Review of Alien Apocalypse (2005) by Leslie S — 22 Jun 2007
Bruce Campbell doesn't get a good role in this film. He gets very few one liners, and even then they're not any good. The special effects were terrible (I don't mean evil dead 2 ripped suit terrible...these were 'made for tv movie' graphics. BAD). There were some moments I enjoyed, but the rest of it was downright terrible. The Spartacus scene was extremely cheesy and outrageously dumb. I'm a huge Bruce Campbell fan, but just having him in it and not being able to play out a character, and not being able to make any really good jokes...
The aliens looked dumb...they only looked good when they were about to bite someone. I am a huge 'B' movie fan, and I'm an expert at watching a movie and being able to take nothing seriously. That ability didn't save me from the terrible acting done by everyone else in the film, the huge cliches, the drab fight scenes, and the stupid alien base. If they eat wood, why would they build their home out of it? They're not going to eat their home. Why not build it out of metal? They have metal tanks, why not metal buildings?
The positives about this movie? The song that plays in the DVD menu is cool, Bruce Campbell is in it, and he says maybe 2 good one-liners in this film. Not a recommended buy unless you're a Bruce Campbell film collector, and need to finish your collection.
