Review of Alien (1979) by Andrew J — 03 Jul 2013
It only took me 5 attempts to watch this film all the way through, it's like a sedative for me, I fall asleep at the exact same place in the film every single time. Finally I was able to see it all the way through (the special edition too) and it was a really great sci-fi horror film.
We see a lot of these kind of films these days but in 1979 it was totally new, the film is timeless and still looks fresh, it's as creepy as it is quality. This film set a new standard in monster movies and along with Jaws was one of the best monster movies of the '70s and definitely still one of the best of all time.
Sigourney Weaver seems to have a small role in the beginning of the movie but later on she blossoms into full on action heroine mode, a brilliant performance, and a quality film.
