Review of Alien (1979) by Bradysmith — 04 Jun 2013
As far as horror movies go, this is as good as they get. With an amazing atmosphere, one of the best creatures ever brought to film, and perhaps Scott's best direction to date, this is without a doubt a classic.
The tension builds slowly, and it is smartly written, unlike most of today's scary movies, (if you can even call them scary). It's sublimely detailed settings, acting, camerawork, and monster still hold up well to this day, and that's no small feat for a movie made in 1979.
Hitting points as high as its genre can possibly allow, it will likely stay an entertaining, and masterful film forever.
