One of the most iconic horror franchises in movie history, the Alien franchise has had a tremendous influence on pop culture. Ridley Scott's original Alien is a seamless blend of suspense and terror that never lets the audience breath, even if it did create some of the horror movie tropes seen today.
Deliberately slow, sometimes to the detriment of the film, Alien was revolutionary for its time and still holds up to this day. I understand why so many people love this film but I find it somewhat slow and sometimes repetitive which is why I don't find myself returning to this film as much as other Ridley Scott films, Blade Runner for example, yet it is undeniably one of the breakthrough films of its era.
