Review of Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) by Brian C — 31 May 2016

Despite the scathing reviews given by critics, I quite enjoyed it on its technical merits alone. The dazzling visual effects complimented the atmospheric sound effects. The story however did seem underdeveloped but Alice Through the Looking Glass still had good intentions.

I think people need to remember that this film is inspired by Carrol's novels rather than "based on" as it seems many were disappointed at the dramatic difference between the original story and the film.

Nevertheless, I remember enjoying the first one very much and it was indeed nice to revisit some of these characters as well as be introduced to some new ones. On the whole, would I want a third film? Probably not.

But then again, that shouldn't take away from the merits of this release and I recommend you to go and watch it for yourself.
