Review of Alice Through the Looking Glass (2016) by Joshua V — 15 Jun 2016
Lets just begin by saying that having Alice do things that makes her both the hero and the villian makes this whole film a bit derivative. The visuals are colourful and fun, as has been the staple for Disney's live action fantasy films of late.
But when the first film took many elements from the first and second novel, I think it left little room for a second film. Still, some of the new characters are fun and interesting and the film does have an ending that even helps give a pleasant ending for the series as a whole.
However the I still did not enjoy Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter and since his character is a big part of the plotline, the film made me feel indifferent to it and its leading characters. However, eventhough the advertisements made Time out to be the villian, he does end up being the character I feel for and care for the most.
